Drama unfolded in Seaford Bay this afternoon as Newhaven RNLI launched lifeboats following an emergency call. The incident took place in the waters between Newhaven and Seaford.

The inshore lifeboat (ILB) was dispatched first at 12:05pm, with the all-weather lifeboat (ALB) following at 1:39pm. Local HM Coastguard teams and the Coastguard helicopter also joined the rescue effort, making it a coordinated response.

Both lifeboats have since returned to base where they handed over to South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) crews and Coastguard teams on the ground. Details of the incident remain undisclosed as emergency services continue their investigation.
