Stephen Mousdell has resigned as the Reform councillor for Haydock, near St Helens, only a week after his election. The resignation comes after media reports revealed his OnlyFans account, where he produced gay adult content alongside his boyfriend.

Mousdell, who won the seat representing the Haydock ward, stated that the intense media attention surrounding his side career as a gay porn content creator has caused significant personal and mental health difficulties. He admitted that both his relationship and well-being have been severely affected by the scrutiny.

In a statement, Mousdell explained that the combined pressure from the press, town hall officials, and political opponents made it impossible for him to continue in office. He highlighted the conflict between his public role as a councillor and his adult entertainment work, which he emphasised is legal and consensual.

Operating under the alias ‘LachlanTaylorUK,’ Mousdell’s OnlyFans profile showcased his work as a gay porn star and DJ, sharing explicit videos featuring himself and his boyfriend. His account also indicated preferences for several niche adult communities.

The resignation contributes to ongoing turbulence within the Reform Party locally, following other councillors stepping down amid various controversies. Unlike previous resignations linked to racist social media posts by some party members, Mousdell’s departure centres on personal lifestyle choices becoming public.

This incident has sparked discussions about the importance of transparency regarding candidates’ personal or professional activities that could influence their public roles before elections. Mousdell expressed his gratitude to the Reform Party while lamenting the stigma associated with adult industry careers in public office.
