Bus Crash Chaos Shuts Down Newington Causeway
Chaos hit Newington Causeway this morning when a 35 bus smashed into the window of Southwark Playhouse just after 8am. The 35 bus crashed into a stationary 333 bus, causing major damage and forcing the road to close for hours.
Six Hurt in Morning Smash — No Serious Injuries
Six people were rushed to hospital following the collision. A Met Police spokesperson confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening or life-changing. No arrests have been made related to the crash.
Emergency Services Swarm the Scene
James Johnson, Strategic Commander for London Ambulance Service, said: “We were called at 8.06am to reports of a road traffic collision in Newington Causeway. Ambulances, paramedics in fast response cars, advanced paramedics, an incident response officer, and our Hazardous Area Response Team were all sent. A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched.”
He added, “We treated several patients at the scene and took six of them to hospital.”

Photos show the 35 bus front completely smashed, the rear of the 333 bus badly damaged, and the Southwark Playhouse window shattered. The impact caused major disruption and chaos on the busy London street during the morning rush hour.
