Emergency services rushed to the scene after a person was hit by a train near Southampton this morning. The incident has brought all train lines between Brockenhurst and Southampton Central to a halt.
Train services running through these stations have been cancelled, delayed, or rerouted. Disruption is expected to continue until 4pm as emergency teams deal with the situation.
British Transport Police received an emergency call at 11.55am and sent officers to Ashurst, where the incident occurred. Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service are also attending the scene.
South Western Railway issued a statement saying, “A person has been struck by a train. Our response teams are working with emergency services to assist with the incident. To allow safe access for emergency crews, all trains in the area remain stopped, and track electricity may be switched off.”
