Massive Blaze Tears Through Brighton Basement Flat
Just after 4pm on Sunday, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service raced to a serious fire at Chesham Place, Brighton. Flames ripped through a basement flat in a four-storey building, sparking a major emergency response.
Firefighters Battle Intense Inferno
Six fire engines and the Aerial Ladder Platform tackled the fierce blaze. At the peak, crews used 12 breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, a foam jet, and a main water jet to fight back the flames.
One Rescued and Rushed to Hospital
Firefighters rescued one person from the burning property. They were rushed to hospital under the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb).
Safety Measures and Road Closures Remain
Fire crews are now damping down and ensuring the fire is fully out. Gas and electric supplies have been cut off at the scene for safety. Road closures remain in place—avoid the area if possible.
