The military conducted an operation at a Chippenham car park today, removing a police car connected to the ongoing nerve agent investigation in south Wiltshire.
Wiltshire Police confirmed their presence at Monkton Park this morning to take away the vehicle linked to the Amesbury nerve agent case.
A police spokesperson stated: “We arranged transportation of a car from Monkton Park in Chippenham related to the ongoing incident in Amesbury. The public should not be alarmed and there’s no risk to any visitors. Those handling the removal have specialist training for safely removing vehicles. There’s no cordon in place, and once the vehicle is gone, the police will leave and the site will reopen as normal.”
Despite the serious nature of the nerve agent case, officials reassured local residents and visitors that there is no danger at the site. Visitors to Monkton Park can continue their activities as usual.
The seized police car forms part of the larger investigation into the Amesbury nerve agent incident, which has kept south Wiltshire on high alert.
