Almost 100 Kids Harmed by GOSH Surgeon in Limb Reconstruction Scandal
A damning review has exposed the shocking scale of harm caused by disgraced Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) surgeon Yaser Jabbar. Between 2017 and 2022, Jabbar treated 789 children, but left nearly a hundred suffering pain and injury. Worryingly, 36 of these young patients were severely harmed.
Harm Rampant: Over a Quarter of Patients Affected
- 36 children suffered severe harm
- 39 children faced moderate harm
- 19 children experienced mild harm
- More than 25% of Jabbar’s patients were harmed
The damage included multiple repeat surgeries and ongoing pain. Jabbar’s operations, involving metal plates, bone grafts, and implants, were described as “high risk.” Yet the report blasted his care as “substandard” and unsafe.
Blistering Report Exposes Jabbar’s Failures
The independent expert probe slammed Jabbar for inconsistent clinical care, poor record-keeping, and flawed assessments. His surgical decisions were called into question, revealing a pattern of negligence.
“Jabbar’s substandard practice undoubtedly caused harm,” the hospital confirmed, while admitting it could not guarantee all harm was avoidable.
Fugitive Surgeon Lives Abroad After Licence Revoked
Jabbar is now believed to be living overseas. His UK medical licence has been revoked. Meanwhile, NHS England’s London region is investigating how GOSH managed this scandal and why warnings weren’t heeded sooner.
