A 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man in his 40s was discovered at a property in Smethwick. West Midlands Police launched a murder investigation after officers were called to an address in South Road shortly before 3.15pm on Thursday, August 6. The call was made following a report from a member of the public. A man in his 40s was found dead at the property. Police have identified the victim and his family have been informed.
60-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder
A 60-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody while detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries in the area, including reviewing CCTV and conducting house-to-house enquiries. Police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have information or footage which could assist the investigation. Anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage from the South Road area is being urged to contact officers. Information can be provided to West Midlands Police quoting log 3109 of August 6. The investigation remains ongoing.
