The A2 westbound towards London is currently closed following a serious multi-vehicle collision near junction 2 of the M25. The crash involved four vehicles, including one that overturned, causing significant disruption to traffic.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service were alerted at 3.14pm to the incident near Dartford. Three fire engines attended the scene to secure the area and isolate a hybrid vehicle involved, ensuring safety while managing the wreckage.
South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) treated five people at the scene. The severity of their injuries has not yet been confirmed as emergency services continue to assess the situation.
The collision has resulted in severe delays with three lanes on the A2 westbound remaining closed. According to AA Maps, tailbacks extend back to Gravesend and Tollgate Services, causing long waits for drivers. Disruption is expected to continue until approximately 7pm as recovery teams work to clear the scene.
Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area if possible and prepare for lengthy delays. National Highways recommends allowing extra travel time, considering alternative routes, or postponing journeys until the A2 reopens.
