A motorcyclist was killed in a high-speed crash on the M25 near West Thurrock late on Sunday night. The fatal collision occurred near Junction 30 at around 11:40pm, prompting Essex Police to rush to the scene to investigate the incident.
Reports indicate that the car involved in the collision had been part of a high-speed police pursuit prior to the crash. Officers confirmed that the incident happened during a police chase, and 123 custody is now involved in the ongoing investigation.
Kent Police have initiated a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in accordance with protocol due to the nature of the pursuit.
The crash caused significant disruption on the M25. The anti-clockwise distributor road between Junctions 31 and 30 was closed for several hours while emergency services, including paramedics and firefighters, attended the scene to manage the situation.
Lanes were reopened by 10:30am on Monday, but delays continued to affect traffic in the area.
