A major motorcycle crash has brought traffic to a standstill at the Dartford Crossing today, October 30. The incident occurred between Junction 1B for A296 Princes Road and Junction 2 for A2 (Darenth Interchange) on the clockwise carriageway of the M25.
Kent Police responded to the scene around 2:23pm. A spokesperson said: “Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service are at the scene where both carriageways are currently closed. The air ambulance is also in attendance, and motorists should plan their journeys accordingly.”
The crash has caused road closures and gridlock stretching for miles. Traffic is backed up north to Junction 30 (Lakeside/Tilbury) and south to Junction 3 (M20 Swanley interchange). By 4:11pm, the northbound lanes reopened, but southbound traffic remained halted.
National Highways has warned that delays will continue into the evening and urged drivers to allow extra time or seek alternative routes.
Meanwhile, Essex Police are managing a separate motorcycle crash on the M25 between Junction 25 (Waltham Cross) and Junction 26 (Waltham Abbey). The road remains closed as officers handle the scene, with no further details released at this time.
Motorists are advised to avoid the affected areas and follow police instructions to prevent further congestion.
