Richard Dyson, 56, from Barnsley, was last seen walking along Sheffield Road (A6135) in Hoyland near Parkside Farm on 17 November 2023. Since that day, he has disappeared without a trace, leaving family and authorities searching for answers.
His daughter, 20-year-old Bethany Dainty, described the past year as the most difficult period of her life. She last saw her father when he dropped her off in Aston, Rotherham, on 15 November 2023. Richard Dyson was reported missing 10 days later.
“Waking up every day not knowing what has happened to dad is like a bad dream that I can’t get away from,” Bethany said. “All I want to know is what happened. I am certain somebody, or maybe even more than one person, knows something that will help.”
She made a heartfelt appeal: “Please get in touch. I ask you directly, and from the bottom of my heart, please, please get in touch and tell somebody what you know. I don’t deserve to live like this, I just need some answers.”
South Yorkshire Police confirmed that the investigation remains open. Detective Inspector Neil Coop stated that Mr Dyson was known to spend time in the Elsecar and Hoyland areas. Officers are keen to trace his movements prior to his disappearance.
“It doesn’t matter how minor you think your contribution may be, we really do want to hear from you,” Det Insp Coop urged.
If you have any information regarding Richard Dyson’s whereabouts, please contact South Yorkshire Police immediately. Your help could be crucial in bringing him home.
