A black Mercedes sedan skidded off the A2 in Kent today after aquaplaning on wet roads. This single-vehicle crash has shut the eastbound carriageway between the A258 Duke of York Roundabout and the A20 Eastern Docks Roundabout.
Traffic is gridlocked as Kent Police and emergency services raced to the scene. The closure has snarled rush-hour commuters, causing lengthy delays. National Highways has been called in to manage traffic and inspect damage to road barriers caused by the crash.
Motorists are being rerouted via local roads around the closed section. Authorities warn drivers to expect holdups and allow extra travel time. They urge travellers to consider alternative routes or postpone trips if possible to avoid the jam.
Kent Police said, “Safety remains our top priority. Please follow all diversion signs and drive carefully in wet conditions.”
The closure will stay in effect while crews recover the Mercedes and clear the scene. Officials promise to update motorists as soon as normal traffic flow resumes on the A2.
