Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body inside a white Ford Transit van in Leicester on 27 May. Detectives believe the man was killed approximately 100 miles away in London.
Scotland Yard has taken over the investigation after a 39-year-old woman was arrested in London on suspicion of murder.
Terrified locals spotted the suspicious van parked on Garden Street in Leicester and alerted authorities. Officers forced entry into the vehicle and found the lifeless man inside. A large police cordon was established as forensic teams conducted a thorough search of the scene for evidence.
Less than 48 hours later, on 29 May, the woman was arrested in London. The Metropolitan Police identified a home in Hounslow as the primary crime scene, where they believe the murder took place, shifting the focus of the investigation to the capital.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila is leading the inquiry, with police urgently seeking information from the public. Authorities have appealed for anyone who saw the white Ford Transit van travelling between London and Leicester, or parked on Garden Street, to come forward with dashcam or CCTV footage.

Authorities are also working to identify the victim and inform his next of kin as the investigation continues.
