Man Found Dead in Fletton House Fire

A 59-year-old man, Zbigniew Wasiak, was found dead after a house fire in Fletton, Peterborough, at around 3:35 AM on Sunday, 11 September 2025. Police confirmed Wasiak died from a stab wound to the neck.

Four Arrested Over Suspicious Death

Four people are now in custody in connection with the case. Two 35-year-old men were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of murder. Later, a 29-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, both from Peterborough, were also detained.

Fire Was Set Using Accelerant, Say Police

A joint police and fire service investigation revealed the fire was deliberately started using an accelerant. Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead from the Major Crime Unit said,

“We are still in the early stages of our investigation. Part of our initial enquiries is to understand why the fire was started at his home.”

Police Urge Locals to Come Forward

Detective Inspector Mepstead appealed to local residents, especially those living near the scene, to report any suspicious activity around the time of the fire. He reassured the community:

“I understand this is likely to be concerning to the local community, but we believe it to be an isolated incident, and we have extra patrols in the area.”
