Kent Police are investigating a serious crash that left a man critically injured near Whitstable. The incident occurred on the A299 coastbound carriageway close to Chestfield Tunnel at approximately 6.50am on Friday, 24 January 2020.
The red Ford Fiesta involved in the crash swerved off the road near the tunnel. Emergency services, including the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service, responded promptly to the scene.
The injured man was airlifted to a London hospital in critical condition following the collision. Due to the ongoing investigation by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, the coastbound carriageway between the Whitstable and Herne Bay junctions remains closed, with delays expected until after midday.
