Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a major fire on the M6 southbound between Junctions 18 and 17. Firefighters from Middlewich, Crewe, and Northwich are currently tackling flames engulfing an HGV trailer.
The HGV trailer, which is loaded with mixed goods and tyres, was found well-ablaze upon the arrival of the fire crews. Firefighters are using hose reel jets and breathing apparatus as they work tirelessly to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
Due to safety concerns, the entire southbound carriageway between Junctions 18 and 17 has been closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and check for updates regarding traffic diversions.
