Three people were rushed to hospital after their car careered off the M40 and plunged down an embankment in Oxfordshire.
The horror smash happened at about 6:10am on Saturday, just north of Junction 9 near Wendlebury.
Fire crews from Slade, Wheatley, and Thame raced to the scene, backed by a specialist rescue team from Kidlington.
Using cutting-edge equipment, firefighters battled to reach the trapped occupants amid difficult conditions.
“The severity of the impact and location of the vehicle made reaching the victims extremely challenging,” said a rescue official.
“All first responders worked flawlessly to free the passengers and get them urgent medical care.”
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service swiftly assessed injuries before ambulances whisked the survivors to hospital.
The coordinated effort by all emergency services ensured lives were saved in a nail-biting rescue operation.
