The M4 motorway in Berkshire is completely closed in both directions following a major incident late last night. The closure has caused severe delays and disruption for countless drivers.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.46pm after a serious incident forced authorities to shut the M4 between Junction 15 (Swindon) and Junction 14 (Hungerford). The incident is currently under investigation, with police and emergency teams working swiftly to manage the situation.

Diversions in Place – Follow These Routes to Avoid the Gridlock
Eastbound Drivers: Exit M4 at Junction 15. Take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A419. At the next roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the B4192 towards Aldbourne. Continue for 13 miles via Aldbourne, avoiding Hungerford town centre. Turn left at the B4192 and Charnham Park junction, heading to the A4 roundabout. Take the first exit, go through the next roundabout to join the A338. Follow the A338 for 3 miles to rejoin eastbound M4 at Junction 14.
Westbound Drivers: Exit M4 at Junction 14. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A338. Follow the A338 for 3 miles. At the A4 mini-roundabout, turn right onto the A4 heading towards Hungerford, bypassing the town centre. At the next roundabout, take the second exit into Charnham Park. Turn right onto the B4192 and proceed 13 miles through Aldbourne to the A419 roundabout. Take the first exit onto the A419 and continue to rejoin westbound M4 at Junction 15.
Authorities are urging motorists to stay patient as the disruption continues. Drivers are advised to plan ahead, follow diversion signs carefully, and stay updated as the situation develops and the M4 motorway eventually reopens.
