Chaos erupted on the M25 motorway this morning, 7 November, as protesters climbed several gantries, causing significant disruption during rush hour. The bold actions of the protesters led to extensive traffic delays and a temporary shutdown of part of the motorway.
Protesters managed to scale gantries at multiple locations along the M25, including:
- Junction 6 towards junction 7
- Between junctions 8 and 9
- Between junctions 13 and 12 southbound
- Between junctions 13 and 14
Police officers are currently addressing the situation involving one protester who remains clinging to a gantry near junction 6 northbound. A specialist protester removal team is preparing to bring the individual down safely.
In response to the incident, National Highways has closed the M25 northbound between junctions 6 and 7 to ensure safety amid the long delays and congestion affecting the area. Drivers are strongly advised to avoid this stretch of the motorway if possible to minimize further disruption.
