A major multi-car crash has forced the closure of the M25 clockwise carriageway between Junction 30 (Aveley) and Junction 31 (Purfleet) in Essex earlier today. The collision prompted an immediate response from Essex Police and National Highways: East.

Initially, traffic was held up just within Junction 30, but the severity of the incident led authorities to shut the entire clockwise stretch between Junction 30 and Junction 31. Motorists are currently facing heavy delays and stop-start queues as emergency teams work to manage the scene.

To ease congestion, officials have implemented a diversion along the distributor link road running parallel to the motorway. Despite this, delays are increasing rapidly, with traffic jams building up on the approaches to the crash site. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes or allow extra travel time.

Essex Police remain on site to assess the situation, provide assistance to those involved, and ensure the safety of other drivers. National Highways: East is monitoring the conditions closely and has committed to providing updates as more information becomes available.

Travelers are encouraged to stay informed by checking official channels before setting out on their journeys.
