Drivers are warned of significant disruption on the M25 near Darenth in Kent as a busy anti-clockwise section near Junction 2 will close overnight across three separate weekends. National Highways has confirmed these closures will take place between April and May, beginning this weekend.
The scheduled closures are as follows:
First closure: 10pm Saturday, April 26 to 7am Sunday, April 27
Second closure: 10pm Saturday, May 10 to 7am Sunday, May 11
Final closure: 9pm Saturday, May 17 to 9am Sunday, May 18
During these periods, anti-clockwise traffic will be diverted off the M25 at Junction 2, routed around the Darenth Interchange roundabout, and rejoin the motorway via the entry slip road. Motorists should prepare for delays and possible congestion.
These closures are necessary to carry out vital resurfacing works aimed at maintaining the safety and reliability of one of the UK’s busiest motorways. However, the roadworks are expected to cause delays, particularly for those travelling towards Dartford and nearby areas. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys carefully and allow extra time to avoid being caught out.
Adding to the disruption, the QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing will also close overnight on Saturday, April 26, from 10pm until 5am. This closure is for routine maintenance and safety checks, which may result in further traffic snarls in the region.
National Highways has published full diversion routes to assist drivers during the QEII Bridge closure.
National Highways has issued an apology for the inconvenience caused by these essential works and thanked motorists for their patience and cooperation while the necessary repairs are completed.
