Kent Police have shut the westbound carriageway of the M20 between Junction 9 and Junction 8 following a serious incident reported to National Highways at 2:50pm.
The westbound M20 remains closed while officers attend the scene. At this time, there is no information on when the road will reopen.
National Highways staff are on-site assisting with traffic management. Both police and traffic teams are working diligently to clear the blockage and prioritise releasing vehicles.
Drivers heading westbound are advised to follow the hollow square diversion signs on local roads. The recommended diversion route is:
- Exit the M20 at Junction 9
- Take the A20 west towards Maidstone
- Rejoin the M20 at Junction 8
Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys. Alternatively, consider rerouting or delaying travel where possible.
