The M20 motorway in Kent was closed in both directions during this morning’s rush hour due to serious concerns for a person’s welfare near junctions 2 and 3.

Just before 6:30 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, police and National Highways officers responded swiftly by closing the motorway between junction 2 and 3 near the M26 interchange. Both carriageways were sealed off as emergency crews managed the situation.

After prompt intervention, the individual involved was safely handed over to health professionals. Following this, traffic flow was restored and the motorway was fully reopened.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 6.29am on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, over concerns for the welfare of a person near the M20 between junctions 2 and 3. Patrols and highways officers attended the scene, closing both carriageways while they responded to the incident.
