Motorists on the M20 in Kent faced long delays last night following two separate police incidents and a digger falling off a vehicle.

Kent Police and National Highways were called to the scene at around 7.15pm between junction 8 and junction 10 due to a welfare concern. Shortly after, another police incident occurred just after junction 10 on the London-bound side.

Adding to the disruption, a digger fell off a lorry near Ashford Golf Course, causing significant traffic chaos. Recovery teams had to work on clearing the vehicle and debris, which led to traffic being held for some time. Drivers reported delays of up to 40 minutes as a result.

The recovery and clean-up operation took approximately two hours before all lanes were reopened and traffic was able to move freely again.
