The M2 westbound between Junction 6 (Faversham) and Junction 5 (Sittingbourne) in Kent is currently closed following a serious crash.
Emergency services at the scene include Kent Police, Kent Fire & Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and the Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also assisting with traffic management amid the disruption.
Drivers are advised to follow the solid square diversion route: exit the M2 westbound at Junction 6, take the A251 southbound towards the A252 at Challock, then continue west at the A252 roundabout towards Charing and the A20 roundabout. From there, turn right onto the A20 westbound towards Maidstone and M20 Junction 8. Join the M20 westbound to Junction 7, exit at Junction 7, and proceed along the A249 to M2 Junction 5. Finally, re-join the M2 westbound at Junction 5.
For those caught inside the closure, turnarounds are in place at the back of the queue at Junction 6, where drivers will be directed to follow the diversion. Traffic management may take some time due to the variety of vehicles on the road, so patience and alertness are advised.
Motorists affected by the closure should plan ahead, allow extra travel time, or consider delaying their journey. Watching for the solid square diversion signs will help ensure drivers stay on the correct route.
