The M2 westbound between Junction 6 (Faversham) and Junction 5 (Sittingbourne) in Kent is completely closed after a serious crash.

Emergency services including Kent Police, Kent Fire & Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance are attending the incident. National Highways Traffic Officers are managing traffic to prevent further disruption.

Drivers are advised to follow the official diversion marked with a solid square symbol. The diversion route is as follows:

Exit the M2 westbound at Junction 6 and take the A251 south towards the A252 at Challock. Then join the A252 westbound at the roundabout, heading for Charing and the A20 roundabout. Turn right onto the A20 westbound towards Maidstone and M20 Junction 8. Merge onto the M20 westbound towards Junction 7. Exit at Junction 7 and head along the A249 towards M2 Junction 5. Rejoin the M2 westbound at Junction 5.

Motorists trapped inside the closure will be turned around at the back of the queue to join the diversion. Due to the variety of vehicles involved, the operation may take some time.

All drivers are urged to remain patient, allow extra travel time, or consider postponing journeys if possible.
