Shadow, a three-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, arrived at the Newport RSPCA centre on March 24, coming directly from Cwmbran. Initially underweight and undernourished, he has made a remarkable recovery thanks to the care provided by the centre.
Known as the “lockdown pooch,” Shadow came to the centre during Wales’ first national lockdown. He is currently on a behaviour plan because of jumping up at people, but staff describe him as full of character and charm.
“Shadow is such a handsome, wonderful dog,” said Kath Logan from Newport Animal Centre. “He needs a patient owner to work with his behaviour plan and help him settle into his new home. We will fully support any new adopter.”
As part of the RSPCA Adoptober campaign, Newport RSPCA is encouraging local animal lovers to come forward and consider adopting Shadow. Due to new coronavirus lockdown rules, adoption visits are limited to residents within the Newport city council area to prevent travel in and out of lockdown zones.
