A life-threatening crash on the M25 clockwise between Junction 9 (Leatherhead) and Junction 10 (Wisley) has caused significant disruption today.
The collision involved an articulated lorry, a London taxi, and a red Citroen. The lorry driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital by air ambulance.
Other vehicle occupants escaped without injuries. However, the M25 remains closed between Junction 9 and Junction 10 as emergency crews work to clear a large diesel spill from the scene.
Authorities expect the motorway to remain shut until mid-afternoon, leading to heavy delays in the area.
Surrey Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and anyone with dash cam footage of the incident to come forward. Those with information are asked to contact Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference PR/P19155923.
Drivers are advised to find alternative routes while the M25 closure remains in effect.
