Emergency services responded swiftly after two kite surfers collided over the waters near Hayling Island this Sunday afternoon.
The Portsmouth RNLI lifeboat was deployed just after 1.30pm following a distress call. Both surfers sustained injuries but were able to get themselves out of the water before paramedics arrived on scene.
The UK Coastguard Operations Centre coordinated a full-scale multi-agency rescue effort. The response teams included coastguards from Portsmouth and Hayling Island, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, rescue helicopter Rescue 175, the RNLI lifeboat, and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.
Both victims were transported to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
This incident highlights the dangers associated with kite surfing and the prompt action taken by lifesaving crews to ensure the safety of those involved.
