Kilburn Blaze: 60 Firefighters and Eight Engines Battle Huge Flat Fire

A massive fire tore through Christchurch Avenue in Kilburn overnight, sending up thick smoke seen from streets away. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters rushed to the scene, battling flames that destroyed part of a two-storey semi-detached house converted into flats.

Flames Rip Through Flats

The blaze gutted the first floor and roof of the building. It started in the early hours, prompting 18 emergency calls by 12:33am. Fire crews from West Hampstead, Willesden, North Kensington, and nearby stations raced to the scene.

Residents Evacuated and Hospitalised

Five people escaped the building before firefighters arrived but were later taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service as a precaution. The London Fire Brigade deployed a 32-metre ladder to fight the fierce blaze from above.

Firefighters Bring the Blaze Under Control

After hours of battling intense flames, crews finally brought the fire under control by 3:57am. The swift and coordinated effort prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring homes.

Investigation Underway

Fire investigators are currently probing the cause of the fire. Locals shared images and videos of the dramatic scene across social media, capturing the plume of smoke lighting up the night sky.
