Firefighters from Portchester and Cosham rushed to a house fire on Lindisfarne Close, Cosham, just before 9.30pm on Thursday.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to combat the flames. They deployed two hosereels, a covering jet, and used positive pressure ventilation to bring the fire under control.
The occupant of the property is currently being treated at the scene by the South Central Ambulance Service.
