A tragic fatality has occurred on Surrey’s busy M23 this Sunday morning. A person was reportedly thrown from their vehicle and struck the windscreen of a lorry involved in roadworks, resulting in a deadly collision.
Six fire crews from Surrey and London rushed to the scene. Surrey Police, an air ambulance, and Highways England Traffic Officers are all on site managing the incident.
The M23 is currently closed in both directions between Junction 7 (A23) and Junction 8 (M25), causing significant traffic disruption in the area.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended the scene to provide emergency medical assistance.
Drivers heading southbound from Junction 7 are advised to divert via the A23 towards Gatwick and rejoin the M23 at Junction 9A. Northbound motorists should travel anti-clockwise on the M25 to Junction 6, then take the A22 northbound towards Purley.
