A trailer loaded with giant hay bales crashed on the A2 coastbound near Barham this morning, causing significant traffic disruption. The collision involved a car and the trailer carrying bulky hay, resulting in the driver of the car being injured.

An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but Kent Police have confirmed that the injuries sustained are not serious. Emergency services from South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue arrived shortly after 11:45 a.m. to assist.

Police quickly closed the A2 between the A260 Aylesham exit and the A256 at Whitfield to allow emergency responders to work safely and clear the crash. The road remained fully closed for several hours, leading to traffic chaos in the area.

National Highways stated they are collaborating with Kent Police to clear the incident as swiftly as possible. By 2 p.m., one lane was reopened, but traffic continued to be diverted via local routes, causing delays for motorists.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and expect ongoing slow traffic around the affected area.
