A suspected grenade has caused a significant emergency response on Sheffield Street, Heaton Norris, Stockport. Bomb disposal experts from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were deployed to the scene to assess and safely defuse the device.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the EOD team is currently on site, carefully examining the suspected grenade. “Emergency services are currently responding to an ongoing incident on Sheffield Street, Heaton Norris. A suspected grenade has been found and a cordon is in place while enquiries are ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
As a precaution, nearby residents and businesses were evacuated from the area. A strict cordon remains in place, blocking off Sheffield Street to ensure public safety. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area until the threat has been fully resolved.
