A 12-year-old girl was struck by a black car at approximately 3pm on May 5th in Bowerhill, Bath Road, just outside Melksham Oak Community School.
The vehicle, described as black but with an unknown make and model, was travelling from the town centre when it hit the girl as she crossed the traffic lights.
Fortunately, the girl sustained only bruises to her arm and foot.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to come forward as their information could be crucial to the investigation.
