Chaos hit Ramsgate as ten fire engines thundered to a blazing block of flats in Plains of Waterloo last night. Emergency crews scrambled just before 5pm, evacuating residents and battling the flames.

Police, paramedics, and firefighters swarmed the scene near King Street and Newcastle Hill. Footage showed a battalion of fire engines, an ambulance, and other emergency vehicles crammed around the building.
Residents were quickly evacuated for safety — but have since been allowed back inside.
Bathroom Blaze Under Control, One Woman Treated
“Ten fire engines and a height vehicle attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used main jets to extinguish the flames, which were contained to the bathroom,” said a Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson.
One woman was treated on-site by paramedics and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
Firefighters Clear Scene Within the Hour
The blaze was promptly brought under control, with crews packing up and leaving by 5.45pm, ending the dramatic incident.
