A fatal crash on the M2 motorway has forced the closure of a significant stretch between Faversham and Maidstone. Kent Police are currently investigating after one person died in a serious two-vehicle collision on Sunday morning.
The collision occurred around 7am during foul weather conditions. Two ambulances attended the scene, and police forensic experts worked despite the adverse weather to examine the crash site. Several drivers were trapped in the chaos following the accident.
The motorway closure is expected to last between four and five hours as officers continue their investigation into the fatal incident. National Highways have installed green screens in an effort to keep the coastbound carriageway open during the closure.
Kent Police have been contacted for comment and are expected to issue an official statement and appeal shortly.
