Essex Police responded to a major collision on the A130 northbound between South Woodham Ferrers and Chelmsford at around 5.35pm on Thursday 25 June.
The road remains closed in the northbound direction, with officers expecting the closure to last until approximately 10pm tonight.
Specialist collision investigators are currently at the scene, carefully examining the crash site and the vehicles involved to determine the circumstances of the incident.
Police have issued an appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have captured footage of a silver motorbike on their dashcam in the area to come forward.
Witnesses are asked to contact Essex Police on 101, quoting incident 1023 of 25 June, or to provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
