An 80-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and robbed at knifepoint in Dundee on Saturday night. The incident occurred between 10.20pm and 10.50pm at the busy junction of Lilybank Terrace and Lilybank Road.
The elderly victim suffered serious facial injuries after being shoved down. The attackers stole her handbag, which contained a three-figure sum of money. She was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment and was thankfully released following medical care.
Police are currently searching for two teenage boys, both described as being in their late teens and dressed in dark clothing. Witnesses reported seeing the suspects fleeing towards Broughty Ferry Road around the time of the attack.
Detective Sergeant Craig Kelly said: “This lady was robbed and left not only seriously injured but distraught by what happened. We are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or who knows who the youths are and where they might be.”
Witnesses are urged to come forward with any information. Anyone who saw the incident or has relevant details is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3871 of 26 November. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
