Hampshire Police are responding to a serious bus crash near Oakley, Basingstoke, where a double-decker bus overturned on Andover Road (B3400). The incident has triggered a major emergency response.
Emergency services including Hampshire Roads Policing, South Central Ambulance, and several fire crews rushed to the scene. Fire teams from Overton, Basingstoke, and surrounding areas arrived with four fire engines and specialized rescue support. A command and control vehicle is coordinating the rescue efforts.
The crash has led to a full road closure on Andover Road and Rectory Road in both directions, restricting access to Deane Park. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
Police confirmed that the bus driver suffered a seizure before the crash occurred. At the time, the bus was carrying 15 passengers. Fortunately, one passenger escaped without injury, while the others sustained minor injuries. The condition of the driver remains unclear.
South Central Ambulance has deployed 10 ambulances either on site or en route to assist with casualties.
Rescue teams are currently working to ensure the safety of the scene and to assess if any passengers remain trapped. Authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the total number of injuries or the full circumstances of the crash.
