A devastating fire broke out at a home on The Fairway in Deal, leading to the deaths of two dogs, a cat, and a rabbit. One occupant was hospitalised after suffering from smoke inhalation.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) received the emergency call at 7.40pm. Four fire engines and a team of firefighters were dispatched promptly to the scene. Wearing breathing apparatus, the firefighters used high-pressure hose reels and main jets to bring the fire under control.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the fire tragically claimed the lives of two dogs, a cat, and a rabbit inside the property. One person required urgent medical treatment for smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was accidentally started by a kitchen appliance. Authorities have issued a warning to residents to use kitchen devices with care and to ensure that smoke alarms are installed and functioning properly.
KFRS expressed their sincere condolences to the family affected by the fire and urged the public to remain vigilant to prevent similar tragic incidents in the future.
