Five fire engines and a height vehicle rushed to Westgate Bay Avenue early on Friday following reports of a flat fire that caused widespread panic.
Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used high-pressure hose reel and main hose jets to bring the intense flames under control.
Tragically, one person died in the blaze, while another was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Kent Police, and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown.
