Wiltshire Police have launched an investigation following two separate incidents in Chippenham where men approached children on consecutive days. Fortunately, no harm came to the youngsters, and the cases appear to be unrelated.
On 29 January at approximately 3:10pm, a 12-year-old boy was approached near the junction of Woodlands Road and Downing Street. The suspect was described as a mixed-race man, about 6ft tall with a medium build, believed to be in his 30s. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark denim shorts, and a black face mask. The boy ran away before any further interaction occurred.
The following morning at 8:15am, a 14-year-old girl walking along Union Road was approached by a man in a car. The man repeatedly offered her a lift, which she firmly declined. He is described as middle-aged, in his mid-30s, with a tanned complexion, thinning black hair, rectangular glasses, a black long-sleeved top, and blue jeans.
In response to these incidents, Wiltshire Police have increased patrols in the Chippenham area and are collaborating with local schools to reassure the community. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact them by calling 101 and referencing log numbers 54250011941 for the boy’s case or 54250012217 for the girl’s case.
