A heartbreaking discovery was made late Saturday night in North Yorkshire when the body of a 12-year-old boy was pulled from the river in Richmond.
Search Launched After Boy Fails to Resurface
Police launched a desperate search earlier in the day after reports came in that the boy had entered the water and never resurfaced. Specialist teams finally recovered the body around 10:45pm.
Family Informed, Police Offer Support
The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. North Yorkshire Police said:
“We can confirm that a child’s body has been recovered from the river in Richmond this evening. His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.”
Investigation Ongoing but No Suspicious Circumstances
Emergency services remain at the scene to assist with ongoing recovery work. Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and no further details have been released.
