Emergency teams rushed to Middle Moss Lane, Great Altcar, Liverpool, following reports of a vehicle submerged in water with a child trapped inside.
Paramedics on the scene confirmed the presence of the child but were unable to verify if any adults remained in the vehicle, according to sources.
Ambulance teams are working urgently alongside Lancashire Fire and Rescue to carry out the rescue operation. A specialist HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) unit has also been deployed to assist with the water rescue effort.
To accelerate the operation, a drone team is providing aerial reconnaissance. This technology offers rescue crews vital views from above as they strive to save the trapped child.
Authorities are currently awaiting a statement from Merseyside Police regarding the incident.
