Kent Police have launched a full investigation following an unusual incident on the busy A2 near Darenth, where multiple cars were damaged by objects fired from a catapult.
The first reports came in just before 6pm on Thursday, November 7, 2024, when drivers alerted authorities to damage sustained to their vehicles while travelling along the road.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered several vehicles had been struck, with strange objects still lodged inside some of the cars. Although the exact nature of these objects has not been disclosed, police confirmed they were launched from a catapult.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the attacks.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “At around 5.50pm on Thursday 7 November 2024, Kent Police received the first of several calls related to vehicle damage on the A2 near Darenth. Objects believed to have been fired from a catapult were located inside some of the cars.”
Officers have conducted searches in the area and spoken with those affected, but no suspects have been identified so far.
The police are now appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or information about the incident to come forward to assist with their enquiries.
