Tragedy struck on Christmas Eve when a local litter picker made a grim discovery during a patrol of the Narrows in Newhaven. The body of a woman was found around midday, sparking an urgent response from emergency services.
The Newhaven lifeboat was launched immediately, and Sussex Police officers were called to the scene. Authorities have stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is now being prepared for the Coroner by Sussex Police.
The missing woman has been identified as 65-year-old Vivienne, who disappeared from her Newick home on December 22, 2021. Police had previously issued a missing person appeal for her.
A police helicopter search located her abandoned Ford Fiesta Zetec in Buckle, near Seaford. Sussex Police have been contacted for further comment regarding the incident.
