Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a vehicle fire on the London-bound M20 motorway between Junctions 8 and 9 near Maidstone at around 11:03 AM this morning.
The fire caused immediate alarm and disruption on the busy motorway, prompting a rapid emergency response.
Two fire engines arrived at the scene with crews wearing breathing apparatus and using high-pressure hose reel jets to tackle the flames.
Despite the intensity of the fire, the firefighters successfully brought it under control by noon. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
In addition to the fire crews, British Transport Police and National Highways traffic officers were deployed to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of motorists on the affected stretch of the M20.
Delays and slow-moving traffic were expected while the emergency services handled the situation.
The cause of the vehicle fire is currently unknown. Authorities are conducting an investigation and have urged drivers to remain alert and patient when travelling through the area.
