A significant fire erupted at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School located on Kennet Road, Maida Vale, West London, leading to a swift and large-scale emergency response.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) received the alert at 1:07 PM and deployed eight fire engines along with approximately 60 firefighters to combat the blaze. The fire has severely affected part of the school’s roof.
Station Commander Hardeep Dale confirmed that the school had been evacuated safely prior to the arrival of the firefighters. He stated, “We are working closely with partner agencies to support everyone affected by the incident.”
Firefighters are using two of the LFB’s 32-metre turntable ladders to spray water from above in an effort to control and extinguish the fire.
In addition to the fire brigade, paramedics and police units are present at the scene assisting with evacuation and managing the situation. One woman has received treatment for injuries sustained at the site.
Road closures have been implemented around Kennet Road and throughout Maida Vale, resulting in significant traffic delays. Authorities have advised the public to avoid the area to allow emergency services to operate effectively.
The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School serves children and young adults aged 4 to 19 who have severe learning difficulties. It is an important special educational needs institution in West London.
